Delete Your Account

This page explains how to delete your RPS Chess account and the personal data associated with it — either from inside the game or by email — in line with Google Play's data deletion requirements and applicable privacy law. It applies to the RPS Chess mobile app and the website at rpschess.io.

Request account deletion → Opens an email to rpschesshelp@gmail.com with the details we need

Delete your account in the app

The fastest route, and the one that takes effect immediately — no waiting period and no email required:

  1. Open the game menu and tap Settings (the gear icon).
  2. Tap Account at the top of the Settings panel.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Read the confirmation and choose Permanently delete my account. You can cancel at this step if you change your mind.

Your account and the data listed below are removed straight away.

Request deletion by email

Use this if you no longer have the app installed, or you cannot sign in to your account.

  1. Email rpschesshelp@gmail.com from the address associated with your account, or include that address in your message.
  2. Tell us your username so we can locate the right account.
  3. We will confirm we have received your request, and may ask you to verify that you control the account before proceeding — this protects you from someone else deleting your account.
  4. Your account and the data listed below are then deleted. We complete deletion requests within 30 days.

What may be retained

A few things are not yours alone to delete, so they outlive the account with your identity stripped out:

Games you have already played. A finished match is shared history — it forms part of your opponent's record as much as yours — so the game itself is kept. Your identity is removed from it, so the record no longer points to you or your profile. Your own rating and win/loss figures are deleted.

Clubs you created. A club belongs to all of its members, so it is not deleted along with your account; it is simply left without an owner afterwards.

Technical and security logs. Standard server logs containing IP addresses and diagnostic data are kept for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) for security and abuse prevention, then deleted or aggregated.

Legal obligations. We may retain limited information where the law requires it, or to resolve a dispute or enforce our agreements.

Club chat messages you wrote are deleted with your account — despite appearing above as shared content, they belong to you alone.

Deleting some data without closing your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove data. You can edit your username, avatar and country at any time in the app's profile settings, and you can leave any club you have joined. If you would like specific items removed without closing your account, email us and tell us what you would like removed.

Playing without an account

If you prefer not to have an account at all, RPS Chess can be played offline without signing in — no account is created and no profile data is stored on our servers.
